Why am I a Stranger?

For some reason I always make recommit to blogging yet I do not do it and seem to become a stranger to it over and over again. It is strange! why am i this way? I know that it is an important thing to do especially with our family spread over the USA and Japan. I even told myself that now that I have an iPhone that makes blogging so much easier I would be able to keep up. I also told myself that since John joined in the blogging that would help me keep up the blogging...well, as always i am a stranger again...lol! So it is time for an update!

First off, my belly has gotten to the size of a soccer ball...I am amazed that there is even a baby in there, I continuously poke it and think to myself, is this really MY belly with OUR baby in there?! or is it some weird costume. Luckily, I am reminded constantly by her very wonderful kicking that she is in there growing. I absolutely love when she kicks above my belly button because that part is closer to the surface so we get to actually feel something hard kicking :) I love to take a moment and absorb the memory when John places his hand on my belly and makes this I am so excited face. I have also enjoyed seeing him give this sweet excited smile to all the cute kids he sees in our ward. For some reason I think he may be more excited...i feel more nervous and still in shock to be fully excited. (P.S. sorry for the raw pictures, apparently we haven't installed lightroom on the computer since the reformatting, hope you still enjoy them).

The other event worth mentioning is that we had our 4 year anniversary this last week :) It is amazing how far we have progressed in becoming one. I look to when we were first married and realize how being married to John has been the best thing for me...he truly has influenced me to become a better person, not to mention all his compliments have me believing that i am of great value..or as i like to say "i am pretty awesome." For our anniversary we decided that we would not create a tradition but do more of a spontaneous "because i was thinking of you" type of day. We are so blessed that our marriage is so strong from the trials we have endured that the idea of having a day where you celebrate your life kinda seems corny and cheesy to us....let me explain...we tell and show each other how much we love each other every day multiple times a day! So what we did for our anniversary...not the usual cards, gifts, etc... we went through our dating scrapbook and went to a very expensive, delicious, fancy restaurant.... I also decorated the apartment for John. While I was thinking of him, deciding what i should do or how i could make him feel as special as he makes me feel everyday....i thought of a great idea... why not celebrate him and his wonderful qualities. So i hung a sign on the outside of our door that said "Why am I so lucky? Look at all your great qualities!" Then when he opened the door he would see that i hung 22 hearts of different sizes at different heights all over the ceiling and walls. Instead of saying this is why i love you.....i SHOWED him how much he means to me by making him feel special! We really enjoyed our new anniversary philosophy and I am already looking forward to the next one!

Corpse Flower and Butterfly Exhibit

The Corpse Flower at the Houston Museum of Natural Science blossomed this weekend, emitting a stench that smells like rotting flesh (hence the name). At the blossom's peak yesterday, the smell made some people throw up and it took a couple showers to get the stench off your skin and out of your hair! Luckily, it wasn't quite that bad when we saw it. This flower is very rare and only blossoms once every several years.

We also had a lot of fun seeing all of the butterflies flying around. John managed to get a couple on his finger.

4th of July breakfast and fireworks

This year we did all of our 4th of July celebrations a day early. We started the day off with a ward 4th of July breakfast and flag ceremony, then we headed to the race track for some fireworks. This was our first time ever going to any horse races, but we weren't there for the horses - we just wanted to get there early for the free parking and cheap tickets for fireworks. Here's a little slideshow I made with iMovie on my phone.

My birthday

So far it has been a great day. Waited in line for our new phones for five hours. Then we went to an Astros game and had snow cones and funnel cakes and ice-cream. Now the rest of the night is unknown. The funny thing is that I didn't open any cards or presents on my birthday because once they arrived I couldn't wait! I am awful when it comes to surprises. So i just learned how to upload my pictures from my camera :) You just stick the little disk thingy in the slot...and tada! I also learned how to edit them. If it were not for media like Facebook, it would be way to hard to share all these wonderful moments with family and friends. Thank goodness for media being used for good things :) I also got to see my cousins new baby boy :) If it weren't for facebook i wouldn't be able to see him so soon :) He is such a cutie. I wonder how people stayed in touch in the past....cuz letters are not even close to the wonderful thing of pictures, email, telephone, cellphones, internet, etc...I wouldn't be staying in touch with so many people because my hand would have just fallen off!
